This months question and answer as printed in the Lynchburg News and Advance. The response is written by G. Benton Livesay, Jr. Ph.D. Question: Do cover letters make a difference? Answer: They could mean the difference between getting a job or not. Some employers do not even process resumes unless a cover letter is attached. Generic non personalized cover letters sometimes aren’t treated much better. A cover letter should briefly say why this particular organization would benefit by reading your resume and considering you for the position. This will demonstrate initiative, show you have done some research and highlight your pertinent strengths, greatly increasing your odds of getting to the next step.
Sincerely, Ben Livesay, Ph.D President/CEO
